The method of making ceramics The ceramic industry requires the need to follow many methods, including the following:
[1] Bring the raw materials, which are as follows: clay, kaolin clay, aluminum oxide, silicon carbide, tungsten carbide, and some pure elements.
Mix all the previous components with water until the appropriate formation is obtained, as it is indicated that it is difficult to form the ceramic after its manufacture, and therefore it is formed as required during the process of its manufacture.
Drying the ceramic and putting it inside the oven, where the heat of the oven helps to release energy, which forms new chemical bonds in the material, and sometimes forms new metals.
Add a water-resistant glass coating to the made ceramics, or apply decorative and decoration tools. Ceramic is produced in its first form in the form of ceramic or pottery (Bisque), and the second or third stage is called glazing.
Note: There are many methods of forming ceramic, including: extrusion, die casting, pressing, strip molding, and injection molding.
[2] The goal of the ceramic industry
The ceramic industry aims to achieve the following goals:
[2] Produce products of various uses, different in their shapes, sizes, details, material composition, structure, and cost. Improvement and development of ceramic materials.
Ceramic properties
Ceramics have many characteristics, as follows:
[1] High hardness.
High melting point.
Chemical resistance.
Weak electrical and thermal conductivity.
Low level of ductility.
High modulus of elasticity.
High compressive strength.
Optical transparency of wavelengths.
Ceramic uses
Ceramics can be used in many fields, as follows:
[3] Tiles. Bricks. the glass. Toilets. The dishes. Some watch products, such as: quartz watches, timekeeping devices. Cars, such as ceramic engine parts, in racing cars. Phone lines. Space shuttles. Planes.
Ceramics
Ceramic is known as a solid, non-metallic, and heat-resistant, and it consists of a group of compounds that consist of metallic and non-metallic elements, and ceramics are known for two main types, which are the following:
[4] Traditional ceramics:
This type of ceramics is made of clay and cement, which is formed by heating at high temperatures, and is usually used in the manufacture of the following:
Dishes, crockery, flowers, wall and ceiling tiles.
Advanced ceramics:
Such as silicon carbide, aluminum oxide, and others. This type requires modern processing techniques, as the development of these technologies led to the development of medicine and engineering.
